2010-May 21 I Caught Him!

I was a little late for work this Friday morning. Driving toward 447 on the "Lower Road". All of a sudden, this animal runs across the road in front of me. Oh my, it's a bird - well, it's a turkey! I realized that my camera was on the seat next to me, so I slowed to a stop, put my vehicle in reverse (after checking if there was any traffic of course!). The turkey was startled with the SUV slowing - then stopping. He was trying desperately to get under the fence. That wasn't working so he flew over the barb wire fence. Every time I had my camera focused on him, he moved off farther and farther. My shots are a little blurred. But I Caught Him! Sneaky little critter.

Below is a stunning arrangement that John Thomas did out at the front gate. It's hard to keep them growing because there is no water out there. We haven't gotten that far. But that is one of our "many" goals. So far John has been carrying water out to the front. But not me! I had told him to wait, but he chose not to. Keep carrying water John. And Thank You - they're beautiful.

2010-May 21 HAPPY BIRTHDAY JASON

We are sending lots of birthday wishes to you in Arizona, Jason.... How are they celebrating? I am wondering, don't know. Will try to find out though.

WOW! a birthday AND it's Friday - what could be better? you say. I say, "If I didn't have to work, but gotta have a place to live, food to eat, and most of all...A/C... I could not do without that - that's for sure.! :)

I am now working on a project. But it will have to be kept under "wraps" for a while. It is a "surprise"! for someone. I am excited about it. I am going to make a "proto-type" first, and then start on the "actual" one. Even Johnny liked the idea! wow! and he helped me get some of the necessities too! (Wow, I love spell check, don't you!?!)

2010-May 19 Anniversary

This year (May 19, 2010) is my 13 year anniversary with the County Health Department. Man, when I started here we were downtown and in a building that was 1st a funeral home. We moved to the current place (1st picture shown above) in 1998. We had moved to our location now in September, 1998 and the next month - October, 1998 is started raining. That was a momentous year - My 1st grandchild was born and while we were in the hospital - well, to say the least - it started raining and didn't stop. It flooded this whole area, surrounding cities and towns, it was so sad that so many people were displaced from their homes. We tease Joseph that the day he was born and the skies opened up. I have seen many changes, for the better, and I have been through many changes -both personal and professional, good, sad and in between. Change you can always count on things changing.

Congrats to me!! 13 years......

2010-May 18 BACK TO WORK-You're kidding

WoW! Tuesday - Let's see - it has only been 1 month and 10 days since Dixie had Brain Surgery. And she is back at work today. She's just working a few hours a day and for maybe 3 days a week for awhile. Oh just be gentle and take care. Don't let people sneeze on you!
We are glad to have you back.
