BABYSITTING Weekend - Jackson (& Tux, too)

& Uncle Bryan asked Joseph to give him a bath

while they were in Austin -& paid him $10 too!

Bryan and Krystyn are driving to Austin this Friday to do some apartment hunting. They are moving. Bryan is transfering with his company to the Austin area- possibly Round Rock. I took a vacation day to watch Jackson today, Saturday and Sunday.

We are having great fun -

here is our list of fun things that we have done so far-

& it's only Friday!

We blew bubbles,

rode on the 4-wheeler (at a very slow speed of course-

nothing fast at all-have to be careful with precious cargo on board),

but I took Jackson on Joseph's 4-wheeler.

took a couple of walks, at a fast pace too!

fed the pony (Cream & Sugar)& baby goat (Flower)

their favorite treats of "Raisin Oatmeal Honey" nuggets,

watched KiWi (our talking parrot) & Matteo (our Cockatiel)

watched SpongeBob on T.V.,

we sat on the swing,


played with a bat & ball,

checked out his handprint

"climbed a tree",

read "HotDog" books

(thats what Jackson calls Mickey Mouse),

and took a bath to wash all those "granny beads"

and "carrots" out from underneath the neck....

WOW! What are we going to do tomorrow?

We will have More Fun!! That's what!!! & besides -

I already have something lined up.

And where is Pa & Joseph??? They went to Schroeder Dance Hall.

A friend of ours is playing there in a band tonight and invited us.

I am watching Jackson, so Pa took Joseph with him, to listen to

the band. They just got home and they said they had a good time.

APRIL 28 2009 TUESDAY

When Joseph gets home from school, he puts his school bag up, eats a snack, puts on his boots, and immediately goes outside. He is walking around and inspecting our place after a big rain we had on Monday. Of course, it is not nearly enough rain. Actually, he is looking for baby deer. He is determined to find a baby this year. He looks every day.

Bryan stopped by on his way to San Antonio to the Spurs basketball game. He will meet several others guys there that were the lucky ones from their store to get a ticket. Bryan works for Discount Tire. He has for several years now, he started off outside changing tires and is now working inside. (oh, by the way, the Spurs lost the game).

Our Little Inventor

Joseph keeps busy 24-7. He doesn't sit still- EVER. Today, he put together a ladder. Built with sticks and string. And he did climb on it. Right now he is outside helping Johnny fix his 4-wheeler. It broke last weekend when John Thomas flipped it over. I think it was ready to break anyway, we ride it all the time.

Lemon Sunshine Cake recipe

I made this cake for Easter and it was a big hit. It is so refreshing.

Lemon Sunshine Cake

Ingredients: 1 box (18.25 oz.) DUNCAN HINES LEMON SUPREME CAKE MIX

1 (3.4 oz.) JELL-O INSTANT PUDDING, LEMON FLAVOR

1 (12 oz.) LEMON LIME SODA

1/3 cup CANOLA OIL

4 large EGGS

FILLING: 1 container (12 oz.) COOL WHIP DESSERT TOPPING, thawed

3/4 cup ROBERTSON'S LEMON CURD

Directions: 1. Heat oven according to cake mix instructions.

2. Grease and flour a 10-inch bundt pan. Use the pudding cake recipe as directed

on cake mix box substituting the lemon lime soda for the water. Bake as directed on box.

3. While cake is baking, combine dessert topping and lemon curd until smooth. Cover and chill.

4. Cool cake according to package directions. Once cake has cooled completely, place on cake plate and fill center with dessert topping, until topping is piled high in the center of cake.

5. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

6. Cut into slices; spoon a bit of filling over each slice and serve.

Fiddlers Frolic and My Metal Animals

Friday night, 4/24/09, we went to Hallettsville, TX. They host a state wide Fiddlers contest with fiddle playing for fun and a band featuring Frenchie Burke performed. They have Cajun food, beer, wine coolers, desserts, music, BBQ cook-off and alot of vendors are there selling their wares.
I love dragonflies. Can't get enough. Well, Joseph & I were walking around and I spotted a pink dragonfly. The 1st time I looked at it, the 2nd time I looked at the price, then the 3rd time I was just drooling. It was $29.99- too much I thought. The lady must have seen me all these times and finally came up to me and said "$24.00". Hmm, I only had $19 on me. I told her I would think about, turned to leave, counted my money again, turned back to her and said, "I only have $19." "Oh, I have to ask HIM." This big, tall, hefty guy came up to me and I just kept looking up,up,up. Kinda scary big-I thought. "I only have $19." He looked at me and said, "I'll take your $19, I don't want to take back with me." "WHEW, WHEW !! yippee......" I was estatic.

And, here it is, my pink dragonfly on a stick! so . . . . . . . . . . . . What do you think????

I bought 2 of these neat metal dragonflies in Victoria at Market Days in March and I am getting 1 more for a project that I have in mind -I will show you when I am finished

My metal "Rock Bird" it has a rock for a belly, and it "rocks" back & forth in the wind, so there are 2 reasons for the name "Rock Bird" - neat! huh?

This is "Metal KiWi"-we named it Metal Kiwi because he looks like our real parrot-Kiwi. I bought him in Schulenburg October 2007 while coming home from a big outdoors Market Days in Warrenton, TX on the other side of LaGrange. It has miles and miles of vendors with everything you can imagine. And some great food too.

Not metal, but I just liked the bird house made out of pvc pipe and a funnel - I hope a great little family of birds can find this one.

BBQ pit babies

Mother bird built a nest in our propane grill that our
daughter & son-in-law gave us, Kendra & Joe.

A couple of weeks ago (4/11/09), Johnny was going to fire up the pit and grill us some burgers. He came in the house to get me. We went outside, he lifted the lid, and we saw 4 eggs. They were small, and white with red speckles.





Well, here is the results. (4/25/09) There are 4 little babies. The one you see is sitting on top of 3 others. This is the one that when we opened the lid, he flew off. Concerned, we ran after it, & while we were putting him back, another flew off. So I guess they are ready to try it on their own. I hope, because we couldn't find the 2nd one to put him back.
I love to see nature at work.
