2010-Jul.20 A Wedding Day for Friends

HAPPY WEDDING DAY !!


For Janet and Steve, great people and great friends!


They had their wedding out by their pool. It was an evening wedding and not too hot, but still a little on the warm side. Johnny, Joseph and I went to our friends big day to help them commerate a memorable day in their lives. Janet asked me to take pictures for her. I was so nervous knowing that these pictures will be their memories. (In hind sight- I should have used my own camera). I tried to remember all the pictures that I should take for her. Here are a few of those pictures of our friends and her family. Janet had them printed and framed by Thursday (that's 2 days), she is just as a fanatic about her pictures as I am. They turned out really great. And I was very pleased with most all of the pictures.

2010-Jul.02 Ready for a 3-day Holiday Weekend

Dixie came to work on Thursday all ready for the 4th of July festivites (and her vacation-she's going on vacation today at noon until next week) Aren't her nails and toes cute?!

Dixie came to work with her patriotic nails and toes-too cute! SO. . . . .I decided to paint my nails, so off to Walgreens I go, well, Nikole went for me (and she also brought back those sno-cones too )-for red, white, blue and silver nail polish. And I had to paint mine just a little different too! I really liked the blue! So I painted little flags on each nail with stars too!

And then back at home, wildlife watching goes on. . .
We have had a pair of Road Runners around our place. It is really interesting to watch them. We saw these Friday evening. He is caught with his "dinner". I am thinking it is a big, black, fuzzy worm!

2010-Jun 08 A New "DO"

Hair-Do that is! Here is Dixie today! I love her new "DO"! It's great.

Love it and love ya Dixie! So glad you're doing so great!

But why would you come back to work so soon? I could be making photo gifts and arts & crafts, lounging out on my porch with a cup of coffee, watching the wildlife.

I know, it is hard being home when everyone else is working.

But maybe one day I will give it a try.

2010-May 18 BACK TO WORK-You're kidding

WoW! Tuesday - Let's see - it has only been 1 month and 10 days since Dixie had Brain Surgery. And she is back at work today. She's just working a few hours a day and for maybe 3 days a week for awhile. Oh just be gentle and take care. Don't let people sneeze on you!
We are glad to have you back.

2010-May 14 Stitches Out Today

Dixie is back on the road going to Houston to get her stitches out today. OUCH! I am sure that's going to feel better eventually. But that is gonna SMART! Please put me to sleep for something like that. But, I guess, if you go through something like Dixie has been through, this is probably nothing in comparison. Good luck, Dixie. Love ya!

2010-Apr.19 Monday - Visit to See Dixie

I just couldn't wait, but I had to go see Dixie! She looks really good. And eww! those stitches. OUCH! I just had to see for myself that she is doing okay. We had a nice visit. While I was there the Physical therapist stopped by for an evaluation. Dixie will be having a P.T. come by to check on her and to help her recuperate. Also, to help her get back her strength and endurance. She is using a walker - supposed to be using a walker.
So glad to see her back home. I am glad to have my friend back and looking well, & doing so well.

2010-Apr.17 What the Hey!?

Ken L. our Assistant Director and long-time co-worker of Dixie, is going up to Houston today to pick her up. I mean to pick her and her Mother - Sue - to bring her home.

Monday - Brain Surgery !
Saturday - Home!
That isn't even 1 whole week! What in the world are they thinking?
We are glad you are coming home, BUT - a week! WOW!

Now you have to really take care, keep people away from those stitches in your head.

2010-Apr. 12 Brain Surgery

Dixie had Brain surgery today! OMG! I just can't believe it.


They had to get the aneurysms that they couldn't get with the angioplasty on Saturday.
They shaved her hair, but what is silly is that they didn't shave it all. What's with that. Dixie told them to shave it all, and they didn't. So now she has long hair in the back and a shaved head in front. She can fix that when she gets home.

Dixie - we are so happy that all is well.

Your doctors are great and Thank God that you will be on your way to a complete recovery. They say she is swollen and her eyes and face are swollen. That's okay, we are just glad that they were able to "git r done". Recovery time - they say probably 3 months until she can return to work.

A couple of co-workers will be heading up there - to Houston - where she was transported. We all signed a banner for her.
I thought I would add a diagram of where her stitches are. I know this is a crude picture, but it gives you somewhat of an idea of where they operated on her.

2010-Apr.10 Update On My Friend Dixie

I found out that my friend Dixie, has 3 spots on her brain. 3 aneurysms. OMG!

And today they will be doing an angioplasty to try to correct these.



This evening I heard that Dixie is out of surgery and doing well, BUT, the doctor was only able to correct 2 aneursysms with the angioplasty. Monday morning, April 12th Dixie goes back to surgery. This is major. Oh NO! Brain Surgery. Who would have "thunk it".? This is unbelievable. I just can't believe. I am having a hard time letting this sink in.

Dixie we all are praying for you and your family. Momma Sue take care and Cole-Dixie's son-we are all here for you.

2010-APR.9th PRAYER REQUEST PLEASE

Please pray for Dixie - she is a co-worker and a friend of mine. She is going through a difficult time right now. She began having headaches and went to our employees' health clinic to see the nurse practitioner. Thank God that she sent her to the hospital for a C-T scan and then an MRI. They found some places on the back of her head. They say it is an aneurysm - 2 of them. The hospital sent her immediately to Houston. They were waiting for her at the entrance when the ambulance pulled up to the hospital. Yesterday, doctors there did an angiography
(Angiography or arteriography is a medical imaging technique used to visualize the inside, or lumen, of blood vessels and organs of the body, with particular interest in the arteries...)

and an angioplasty.

(Angioplasty with or without vascular stenting is a minimally invasive procedure performed to improve blood flow in the body's arteries and veins....)

They could only fix 1 of them, and found that there is 2 more.

She will be having brain surgery in the next couple of days. Please pray for her and her family and her doctors / nurses. I found this prayer on-line today for everyone to say.

Make the work of those treating and helping her full of Your perfection,

2010-Mar.12 SPRING BREAK friend staying the Week

This is Chico-he's a big guinea pig-huh!?
Our Spring Break Guest-I had to pick them both up from school, since
Joseph couldn't take him on the bus with him. I didn't understand that
until I picked them up. The cage is huge-it wouldn't have fit through the
aisle of the bus-and Joseph had a big tub of "essentials" for Chico.
Joseph will be taking care of him for the week.
And boy, he is messy. He jumps up on the top tray to get water and
he flings everything on the bottom tray all over the floor. And my response
to that is, "Joseph, get the broom!"

Oct 10th Turkey Fest-took Joseph & Bobby to the Cuero parade; We were not too enthused with the parade this year, not too much to look at - the floats & cars & bands- were way too far apart and it was just a boring parade this year...were were very disappointed, and left way before it was over - it was YUK!! this year. I did snap a few pics though, couldn't resist, that's what I do.

Well, here it is ....finally! School bells ringing once again. Joseph was really excited about going back school. In fact, he says that he wishes that school was year 'round. He liked going to F.W. Gross, which was a year 'round school when he was there - Pre-K thru 3rd, but they were changing to traditional school the year we were moving to Mission Valley.

Joseph likes school which makes it easier for me. He rides the bus to school in the morning and in the evening stays at school under the care of the YMCA until I pick him up. Well, either me or Janet - our neighbor and good friend. Her son, Bobby, and Joseph hang out. So we help each other out picking up kids, watching them when one of us needs some help or needs to run errands, etc. It's wonderful to have someone that you know you can depend on or know they will help if the need arises.

COOLING OFF IN THE SUMMER HEAT

Friday, June 12th, I took Joseph & Bobby (our next door neighbor) swimming. Bobby and his parents have a pool. Oh! Thank goodness. It was soooo nice, laying in that cool water, in the 95+° heat. We didn't stay in but maybe an hour, and Johnny came over too!, for awhile. It is so nice and peaceful. They have a very nice pool area. Thank you to Janet and Steve (and Bobby too!) for allowing us to go swimming at you place. It's beautiful and relaxing.
