Saturday Project

Well, I know this is something different, but.... I like different. I got Johnny to roll me some barbed wire up that had been laying around back into a "wreath". Then Joseph & I stopped by Hobby Lobby and picked out some things to "garnish" it with.

We are going to put a bird feeder on the top of the pole. Johnny found it in 1 of the sheds. He said his Father (Jack) had built it and had used it out here. Jack stayed out here on weekends alot. He loved it out here. Anyway, it is in need of some repair, so Johnny will nail it back together, add a few boards and then Joseph will re-paint it. So we have pieces of Jack all around us. I think of Jack so often and hopes he knows how much we love it out here.

Now for some bad, awful news. Our little pet goat, Flower, has been killed. As much as I just love it out here, I am getting so upset with people who own pets and don't keep them in their own yards. We had a pack of dogs run through our property this morning. I had been up at 7 am and I was enjoying watching deer under the feeder. And all of a sudden, here comes this pack of 6 dogs running at full speed at "MY" deer. So I feel real strongly that they have something to do with this.
It hasn't been that long ago that a pack of dogs killed Nora & Dora, our momma goats. That was so terrible. And now this, poor Joseph came running in the house this afternoon with the news. Why did he have to see this? He cried and cried.
I just don't know when pet owners will take responsibility for their own pets!

I want to wish all Fathers a very special day. Especiallythose close to me:
My Dad, my husband - Johnny, our son -Bryan, and our son-in-law - Joe.
The Big Fisherman's Restaurant in Rockport was the place we chose to have a celebratory lunch for all the Fathers. 2 of our children and their spouses, (except for our son - John Thomas - he was working today, of course), the 3 grandchildren, Johnny's Mother and niece, Elizabeth.
And also, Gaylan - a friend of Bryan's (& a former co-worker), was visiting them in Corpus, joined us for lunch. We all had a great time, of course, we ate too much.
Thank you all-for celebrating with us.
And now..... nap time!
