2010-Jun.18 Card Table Tent PlayTime

Here is an idea that I saw on several blogs that I peek in on. It is a cardtable tent. And my grandchildren love to play in it.

Fleece material panels that Johnny even helped me pick out.

Here it is before I sewed it, I pinned it all together and slipped it on the card table to make sure I had the right idea on making this tent. Johnny had the idea to use the fleece material first. Then, the one I actually want to make, I will use solid color material, either felt or broadcloth, and then sew felt images on to it.

It worked, all four sides are different: Winnie the Pooh, Buzz Lightyear, Frogs, Rockets and on top is a Farm with a tractor panel.

Joseph is checking out this tent, making sure it will be "fun" for his cousins to play in.

I cut a slit on the "Frog" side as a door to get into the tent.

And Jackson and Parker are here today-Friday until Saturday evening. So I brought the tent out and set up the card table. The boys really enjoyed playing in it. I think Phase II will be in the works ASAP.

The card table tent is a Big Hit!! Yeah!

The boys are all asleep now, so I was able to write this up and post these pictures.

2010-May 23 Project Weekend

This weekend was a project weekend. One project was a proto-type so I can make the one I want to give as a gift. So that one is "under wraps" for a while.

But I can talk about the 2nd one, our windmill. Johnny fixed it, welded it back together (it had fallen over and broke). So "My Mr. Fix-it" fixed it. ;)

Anyway, Joseph helped me spray paint it. We are not quite finished, so I will post the final picture in a few days, but I could wait to post. The bench was another project from a while back. It was made from an old bed that my Aunt Ann gave me, she said it was Michael's bed when he was younger. We cut the foot board in half, welded it to the head board and welded a seat to it.

I am thinking . . . . . maybe green. . . . we'll see.!

This was my 3rd project this weekend. I gave this blanket (which I really wanted to keep it), but I gave it to a friend of mine and also a co-worker - Christina - hope you enjoy it!!

A New Rocker for the Front Porch

I bought this rocker at TSC, a tractor supply company, it was in a carton and on sale.
So it also became a project for Johnny to put together. I know if my daughter had been
around-she would have done this for me-she is a wiz at putting things together.
This will be stained (for the weather and also for some much needed color) for the porch.
My son also suggested adding a star to the rocker back. Anyone up for the next step?
