2010-Aug.28 Making Growth Charts

I found a great idea on the internet about making a growth chart for kids. But, the one I saw was made out of thin plywood. Well, I was showing Johnny and he said that I out to make it out of fabric, so that when the kids are older they really couldn't keep it. But if you use fabric they can roll it up and have a keepsake. Fantastic! I really like using felt and no hemming with it. So I decided on "themes" for them and got started. Parker will get a Rocket and Jackson will get a Lighthouse. I thought about the characters that they watch on t.v. and like, but those characters come and go and soon they like other characters and cartoons. And these will "GROW" with the boys and not be too "baby-ish" in a few years. I think they really turned out great. And I can't wait for the boys and for Bryan and Krystyn to see them. Hope they will like them and enjoy watching the boys grow taller and taller.

(Okay-we missed the bus the 1st day, so this is the 2nd day of school!)

Cade Middle School - Here He Comes!!

Well, this is it! The 1st day of Middle School, August 23, 2010

We got up, ate, got dressed and at the bus stop by 6:45 a.m. There is another car waiting, we made it. NOT! Here comes Janet, "Did we miss the bus?" "No." We have been here since 6:45 am and she said she was at their gate at 6:38 a.m. Our other neighbors had been waiting before us. Neighbors daughter gets a text, the bus is coming up on . . . the Nursery store! We missed it, but how could that be?! So Janet (as wonderful as she is) volunteered to take the kids to school. By now it is 7:15 a.m. Thank you Janet.

Boy! The VISD bus transportation dept. has been flooded with calls today. I left 1 message but couldn't get through the rest of the day! Finally, 7:30 PM, they call, and say, "You have to be there before 6:50am." So what is the time? Just be there by 6:45 am. And I finally get through to her, that if you tell me 6:45 am, the bus can NOT come before 6:45 am. And they say, "OH! well, she shouldn't!" Oh no, I am telling you that if you tell us be there at 6:45 the bus driver CAN NOT drive up before 6:45 am or she should wait for 6:45 before she drives off. They actually seemed "Surprised!" Imagine that! wow! VISD - where do you find these people?

Any way, the school dress code has changed! Drastically, Thank Goodness!

Pants, BELT!, and shirts should be POLO any solid color! but you can always wear the School Spirits shirts any day of the week, and ALL shirts have to be tucked in!

But, everyone is wearing pretty much the same thing and they all look great-Middle Schools and High Schools. I hear that next year they will think about implementing it in the elementary schools - and they should!

At registration, he took his picture for his badge;

and also, he took school pictures for the yearbook; we ordered a school approved "hoodie" for the winter; and a school "tervis" tumbler. Spent a small fortune that day!

It going to be a great year! Right!?

Cade Middle School and the West High School and the East High School are all brand new! and they are all great! Well, except for the small, little, itty, bitty fact that they were built off major roads and have caused quite a ruckus! Traffic is horrific!

There was already a major wreck at the intersection of the West HS/Cade MS. Thank God, no one was hurt, they all walked away from it. But it was terrifying! And it happened in front of me.
