To Cuero, through Yoakum, through St. Mary's, Praha, Komensky, back to Yoakum, back to Cuero, back home to get the truck, only to go back to Yoakum and back home again! WOW!

Trip to Cuero, Texas this morning
Joseph, Johnny & I went to see Dad today. He is back in the nursing home after his long stay in the hospital for pneumonia, fever & congestion. He is not swallowing well (I am told that is part of having Alzheimers). The functions that we all take for granted each day stop working in these patients. Unfortunately, My Dad has Alzheimers. He went back in the nursing home with a weight of 112 lbs. He doesn't talk very well, actually he talks really low and he is so weak, that he is having physical therapy to help him to walk again. But there was an aide in the room with him when we got there, she said he was wanting to get up and he really can't. I am glad I was asking questions to the nurse today. The Doctor had wrote an order to have a soft diet for Dad and they had not "seen" this in his chart. Hmm!! The nurse even said that she was glad that I had questioned her about any new or different orders that had changed the way they should be treating Dad's situation. He needs a little extra care, he can't walk, he is just too weak, and needs to eat so slow so he doesn't choke. He is also having therapy for his swallowing situation. I also had to sign a consent form for another med. He is also getting checked daily for his blood sugar level. He is on the verge of Diabetes, which is not good. We took him back to his room - he was getting really tired. So we cut our visit short, but of course, we'll be back.
We did stop at Janak's (it's where they make Janak's sausage). Right before you get to Hallettsville, and right before the turn off to St. Mary's. It's a cute little place & they had all Christmas items and yes...ornaments 30% off. And Johnny actually didn't really mind me buying some. They are so cute. Well, can you guess, the color theme for Christmas this year!! Yes, Red & Gold. I can't wait. Well, the mittens are really red NOT pink, the picture took weird.

And, Hancock Fabrics had a great sale too! I bought some really large ornaments that we will be able to hang on our NorthFolk Pine Tree out in the front yard.

My Parents Grave Stone at the Praha Cemetery
After our visit with Dad, we went to see my Mom. But this visit is at the Praha Cemetery. Yes, my Mom has been gone since October 8, 2003 - that's been 5 years & 3 1/2 months.

This is a beautiful cemetery, but I would rather be able to visit her somewhere else. After changing flowers on her grave ( I always try to bring pink ones-she always liked pink), we walked around to the Praha church. This church is so beautiful-you really need to stop by if you can. I took pictures just in case you can't get there.

After Praha, we stopped by my family's old homestead near Komensky. The gate was locked, so I just took pictures from the road, it was a pretty good ways from it so the pic is not too clear.

On the way back home, we stopped in Yoakum. Wow, look at these longhorns!! It was a small park area right off the highway. It had some benches around the park area. It was really neat.

We also stopped at a nursery in Yoakum and bought some Live Oak trees for our property. Some of our trees have "bit the dust", so we have been wanting to replace them. We needed to get them, but guess what!? we were in my Durango. We drove home to get Johnny's truck. Drive back & got 11 trees to plant now, and to water to try keep alive. Wish us luck, I just don't have a green thumb like my Mother did. Here are our trees, we also got our neighbors 5 trees. I am so glad that he is going to help Johnny plant these, he has a tractor with the auger to dig the holes.

3 Stone Birds on a Stone Log
We have been visited by a little piggy this week-off & on. She ruts up under the trees in the front and just lays there. We believe she is about to have piglets. She actually belongs to the neighbors across the road, but I guess she just finds our "shady dell" a bit more pleasing.
I'll keep you posted on her progress - hope it won't be too long now.

& Just when you thought I was done.....YUM!YUM! I made a zucchini casserole with cornbread on top. It was good, but it was better when my Mother-In-Law made it. Hint! Hint! Alta.

Hot Cup of Apple CiderWhile I was waiting for that to bake, I made a cup of hot Apple Cider with a spiced mix added. It is so good. You have probably heard about this, but I thought it was good, so I had to mention it.
